LEWISBURG – The Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary is now a permanent holdover facility housing inmates in transit to their designated prison in this part of the country.

• The Senate voted 50-49 on the confirmation of Xavier Becerra, of California, to be Secretary of Health and Human Services. U.S. Sen. Robert Casey, D-Scranton, voted yes. U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Zionsville, voted no.
The Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce voiced its support for a bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Rep. Fred Keller (R-PA) designed to strengthen the healthcare workforce during the pandemic.

WASHINGTON — The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency has awarded a grant to Mifflin County.
A grant in the amount of $85,838 will be administered to Mifflin County for the purchase of body-worn cameras to outfit local law enforcement, Rep. Fred Keller, R-Selinsgrove, said in a press release Tuesday.
