Congressman Fred Keller announces $32,422 federal grant for Irion Lumber Company in Tioga County

Rural Energy for America Program grant will help install renewable energy sources

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Fred Keller (PA-12) on Tuesday announced the United States Department of Agriculture has approved a Rural Energy for America Program Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency grant of $32,422 for Irion Lumber Company in Wellsboro to purchase and install a ground mounted solar array.


The project will grow current energy output at the facility and save $9,365 per year. Irion Lumber contributed $97,268 to the project.


“This grant will go a long way toward helping Irion Lumber increase its renewable energy output and save money while being self-sufficient,” Congressman Keller said. “I am glad to see USDA award the grant money and help the agriculture industry in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.”
