Congressman Fred Keller announces Montoursville resident accepted to military service academy
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) announced Wednesday that Gabriel Phillips, a 2019 Montoursville Area High School graduate, has been accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The acceptance comes following a nomination from Congressman Keller as a result of a recommendation from Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District’s Academy Review Board.
Among Gabriel’s achievements, he was captain of the Montoursville Area High School baseball team. He has also received the Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and the State Sen. Gene Yaw Good Citizen Award.
On Gabriel’s acceptance, Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) made the following statement:
“I congratulate Gabriel for choosing a future of service to his country by attending the United States Military Academy at West Point.
“Gabriel’s application showed an outstanding record of academic achievement and service to his community. I am sure his background will help him be a success at the United States Military Academy and during his future military career.
“I thank the members of Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District’s Academy Review Board for their service and recommending Gabriel for this nomination. I look forward to hearing about his continued achievement at West Point and beyond.”
