Notes plan is based on science and local decision-making

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) on Thursday made the following statement in response to Sen. Pat Toomey’s “PA Starts Up Safely” framework to gradually re-open Pennsylvania’s economy:

“I applaud Sen. Toomey for his plan to gradually and safely re-open Pennsylvania. The Senator’s plan rightly notes that two-thirds of Pennsylvania already meet data-based criteria to begin re-opening businesses in accordance with public health guidelines, while harder hit areas will take more time for cases to decline and health care capacity to increase. This is the type of local-driven, fact-based approach that will get Pennsylvanians back to work quickly, safely, and smartly, and another sign that President Trump’s bipartisan ‘Opening Up America Again Congressional Group’ is making encouraging progress. I am hopeful that Gov. Wolf will consider this input as well as the input of Pennsylvania’s federal and state elected officials as we work to get back to normal.”
