Congressman Fred Keller applauds US Department of Agriculture grants made in PA-12

Grant money will go toward rural broadband projects, food banks, and food pantries

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) Friday applauded the United States Department of Agriculture for approving three grants in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.
The grant awards and locations are as follows:


$99,999 to the Central Bradford Progress Authority – A Rural Business Development Grant that will be used to purchase equipment associated with the monitoring and integrity of the middle mile dark fiber network being installed.
$9,700 to Towanda Area Christian Outreach – A Rural Business Development Grant that will be used to assist in the purchase of a walk-in freezer for Towanda Area Christian Outreach (TACO), a local food pantry.
$10,721 to Appalachian Food Works – A Rural Business Development Grant that will be used to help the Food Hub to develop sales relations.


“This grant money will go to good use by helping to expand rural broadband access and enhancing the operations of local food shelter organizations,” Congressman Keller said. “I look forward to working with the US Department of Agriculture and other federal agencies to continue to provide support for critical and needed projects like these in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.”


According to information provided by the US Department of Agriculture, the three grants will create 11 jobs and save three jobs in the district.
