Supports White House’s letter pointing out lack of basic due process and political aims of rigged inquiry

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) on Wednesday issued the following statement calling for an end to the non-transparent and legally unsupported “impeachment inquiry”:

“The White House’s letter to Speaker Pelosi and Democratic leadership is right: The President should not be forced to comply with this rigged, partisan process which denies the president due process and is cloaked in secrecy. It’s time for this ‘impeachment inquiry’ to end before House Democrats do any further damage to our Constitutional norms and the public’s confidence in our government.

“Traveling across Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District, I have repeatedly heard from my constituents that they are tired of House Democrats wasting taxpayer time and resources on needless, partisan investigations while proposals that could actually help people, like the USMCA and bipartisan prescription drug reform, fall by the wayside. House Democrats have been seeking to impeach President Donald Trump since he was sworn in. Now, Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Schiff are using a process that lacks transparency and is utterly devoid of basic due process to try and take down our duly-elected President and overturn the results of the 2016 election. If they can do this to President Trump, with his vast resources, imagine what they can do to average Americans. It must stop now.”
