Congressman Fred Keller recognizes corrections officers at FCC Allenwood and USP Lewisburg as COVID-19 Heroes

Corrections officers and staff answered the call of duty under pressing conditions

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) spoke on the House Floor to recognize the correctional officers and staff of FCC Allenwood and USP Lewisburg as “PA-12 COVID-19 Heroes” for their work to oversee federal inmates under pressing conditions during COVID-19.

 

Early in the pandemic, the corrections officers and staff at FCC Allenwood and USP Lewisburg oversaw the movement of hundreds of inmates from across the nation to these facilities in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.

 

Many of these corrections officer also answered the call to deploy to other Bureau of Prisons hotspot facilities in order to assist diminished staff due to COVID-19. 

 

On the dedication of these corrections officers, Congressman Fred Keller made the following statement:

 

“It is an honor to recognize the tireless work of our corrections officers and staff at FCC Allenwood and USP Lewisburg. Every day, these hardworking men and women go to work at great personal risk to themselves and their families. For their commitment to keeping our communities safe, I thank them for their service and am proud to acknowledge their dedication on the House Floor.
