Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Tonight, Congressman Fred Keller (PA-12) issued the following statement after voting against raising the national debt limit to $28.9 trillion:

“At President Biden’s direction, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have proposed the most expensive spending package in American history, which calls for $5.5 trillion in funding to advance their radical, far-left agenda at the expense of America’s taxpayers. Such a colossal price tag would require the government to either raise or suspend the current limits on how much debt America can incur, something all fiscal conservatives should oppose.

“Speaker Pelosi expects America’s future generations to write her a blank check to cover the cost of this socialist spending spree, and she expects House Republicans to play along. I will continue to champion the responsible stewardship of taxpayers’ hard-earned money and oppose these partisan measures to plunge our nation even further into unsustainable debt.”
