Congressman Fred Keller votes against Speaker Pelosi’s $3 trillion socialist wish list
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) on Friday voted against H.R. 6800, the so-called “HEROES Act” that contains House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s $3 trillion socialist wish list items and does nothing to get Americans back to work and start recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rather than addressing the serious issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the legislation:
- Provides for taxpayer-funded payments to illegal aliens.
- Includes $50 million for “Environmental Justice Grants.”
- Uses the word “cannabis” more than “economy” or “jobs.”
- Spans nearly 2,000 pages and was introduced without public hearings or bipartisan input.
On voting no on H.R. 6800, Congressman Fred Keller (R-PA) made the following statement:
“This legislation is an absolute non-starter. During my time in Harrisburg and in Congress, I have never seen such a partisan piece of legislation actually receive a vote. Far from addressing the very real and serious impacts of COVID-19, this legislation is simply a giveaway to liberal special interests.
“With this sham piece of partisan legislation, Speaker Pelosi wants to increase government dependence and thereby increase government control. I firmly believe the best thing we can do to recover from this invisible enemy is not cower in fear but come together as a nation and find ways to return safely to work and restart the greatest economic engine the world has ever known.”
